Favorite Movie Scenes-A Few Good Men

On Tuesday I posted the opening speech from Patton. Today’s scene is also delivered by a military officer but the tenor of the speech is much different. Patton is speaking to motivate his men, give them an idea of what they are going to face when they go into combat and that it is alright to be scared but in the end they will know what to do. Col. Jessup’s speech is pretty much telling people to back off and let him do his job of defending the country.

My favorite moments from the speech are his calling out Lt. Wineberg and the reactions of everyone when he admits to ordering the Code Red. It is to bad this clip does not have Kevin Bacon’s reaction because it is priceless. Nicholson had 3 scenes in this movie and maybe 15 minutes of screen time but as Jack usually does he dominated the screen and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. This is one of my favorite movies and if you don’t think I can still recite this speech then you obviously do not know me.

This scene has mild language.

Yes! The Democrats are still beating each other up

With her victory last night in the Pennsylvania primary Hillary Clinton has kept her campaign alive. Even with the decisive victory she is still behind Barack Obama in number of pledged delegates and many Democrats still want her to concede. The next primaries are in Indiana and North Carolina, most pundits believe that Hillary needs to win Indiana as decisively as she won in PA to keep her presidential hopes alive. Since I do not like either candidate or the party they represent it has been enjoyable to watch them tear each other apart.

John McCain was the other big winner last night.

He gets to watch Obama and Hillary continue their fight and will have plenty of ammunition to use once the campaign begins. McCain like the two Democrats also has his flaws but right now they are not being discussed but once the campaign starts it will be all you hear about from such unbiased outlets like the New York Times and Washington Post. It also seems that McCain has done a good job of uniting the Republican base since he secured the nomination. If he continues to unite the base and is also able to maintain his support among Independents he will have a good shot of winning in November. I hope the Democratic nomination is not resolved until the convention because the in fighting has been quite enjoyable to watch.
